As an organization whose aim is to eliminate racism, The Centre for Race and Culture (formerly NAARR - The Northern Alberta Alliance on Race Relations) approached a few Muslim youth to work together and develop a creative tool to help decrease common misunderstandings and stereotypes about Muslims. The team discussed a few ideas and decided the use of film or video could encourage both creativity and send a powerful, personalized message by Muslims. The Mosquers (play on The Oscars) has been successfully running for the past 3 years and is now a premiere event that attracts country wide attention.
